Las Vegas will charge Paris Hilton with possesion of a controlled substance by Las Vegas police after she was stopped this weekend while riding in an SUV.

I am no Emily Post when it comes to relationships. I certainly don’t have all the answers when it comes to love and I’ve made countless mistakes when it comes to the men that have dotted the pages of my life. While I don’t meet the qualifications for writing a book on the proper dating etiquette, I could pen a column or two about maintain the hope that your one true love is waiting right around the corner, all the while stumbling through relationships along the way.

This stumbling, well let’s be honest, in my case, falling flat on my face, was a recurrent theme in my relationship history. Scars and bruises of my past ill-fated trips down lover’s lane are ever present in my mind, so when I began dating my current boyfriend in the beginning of January 2010 I was optimistic, yet cautious. He was recently separated from his wife, resetting his love life, and unsure of what the future would hold for him. All qualities that produced an array of warning signals in my mind. However, the romantic optimist in me prevailed through the doubt and I thought about the possibilities that could lead to the potential of this situation actually working out to my benefit. He was one of my dearest friends for the past three years and has been the one to pick me up off my face when I fumbled my way through one bad relationship to another. In my opinion those were two fantastic reasons for beginning a new dating adventure with someone, and if those two weren’t enough to convince me to date this man, then the simple fact that I was just freshly wounded by a relationship with what I would like to consider a nutcase (and wasn’t quite yet ready for another serious, long-term commitment with someone) closed the deal for me.

Three months later all the bright red caution lights that were flashing in my mind when I first began dating Tiki had disappeared and I was, for the first time in my life, completely comfortable in my relationship. I was able to throw on a pair of sweatpants and not worry about putting make-up on when he came over, our hands seemed to fit together perfectly while walking down the street, conversation over dinner at our favorite French restaurant, La Ripaille, flowed naturally – all in all, life appeared seemingly perfect.

Then within 24 hours, that seemingly perfect world that I had quickly grown accustomed too, vanished. My face was suddenly on the front page of one of the most read newspapers in the nation, I was trending on Google, my family was being harassed by reporters, my sister called to tell me that she saw Tiki and me on television, and I was forced to leave my cozy two-bedroom apartment, with my eight-month old puppy in tow, to spend the next two weeks in seclusion from the world.

While I can’t speak for Tiki, at first I found the story about his and my relationship to be humorous. The scandalous headlines, such as “Sneaky Tiki” and factually incorrect details – like Tiki leaving his wife while she was eight months pregnant with twins – that graced the cover of “reputable” newspapers amused me. Amusing because I, quite frankly, knew the truth. I knew that Tiki didn’t leave Ginny when she was eight months pregnant for me. I knew that his relationship had deteriorated before my relationship with him was even a thought in his mind. I knew that I was never Tiki’s babysitter or that he “lavished” me with expensive gifts or snuck into my college dorm room (I lived on an all girl’s floor with a key swipe entrance … think how difficult it would be to sneak a 5′10, 200-pound, black man into that environment?). Plain and simple, the truth was and still is that Tiki and I never crossed the line of being inappropriate while he was married and nor was our relationship inappropriate now that he wasn’t.

The initial amusement that I had towards the story rapidly vanished when the truth didn’t come out. During this time Tiki and I were forced to hide away from everyone for fear of the press. We couldn’t go out to eat without it becoming tabloid news. I was quickly becoming exceedingly frustrated with the story and the way it was spiraling out of control. The truth wasn’t coming out, and in fact, more outlandish and ludicrous lies were being told and printed.

I remember one day, crying to Tiki, probably after reading a blog about us (which I promised Tiki I wouldn’t do), begging him to call the papers, to scream it from the top of 30 Rock, to simply tell the world the truth because I thought it was destroying me, him, and the potential future for our relationship together. Upon my request to vindicate not only myself, but him as well, Tiki, sat me down, placed his arm around me, and said, “Nothing that I can say will change their perception. Only time will.”

And while the stubborn, opinionated side of me hates to admit it, he was right.

Four months later we are still together and love each other more than before. We have our moments of discontent as any normal couple does, but for the most part we find happiness in each other and the simple pleasures of life. On an average night we find ourselves watching whatever we have rented from Netflix or enjoying an episode of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman (yes, with or without Tiki’s permission, I will admit that we own the entire collection). Instead of loud and pretentious clubs, you can find us at a cozy wine bar with friends or playing in a co-ed softball league. If any restaurant requires a three-course meal or more we refuse to go and end up eating at a local pub right around the corner from our apartment. We stay up too late for any sane couple reading books in bed and we enjoy knowing that even if we are boring, we would both rather be bored with each other than doing something with someone else.

While it has been four months since the story of our relationship came out, people still are judging and opining on it. But these people have been influenced by the ignominious and outrageous stories that have been told about us. Everyone has the right to believe what they desire and Tiki and I both realize this. We simply just take solace and great joy in knowing that the people who know the true “Tiki and Traci” have loved and supported us every step of the way and we take even greater joy in making new friends who have learned to love the “real us.”

And in the end that is all that matters. A few good friends and one true love.

I guess Ice-T was wrong. Apparently "Some Punk Bitch Rookie Cop Named Fisher" didn't make the arrest of his life. Charges were dropped this morning against rapper turned actor Ice-T in Manhatten Municipal Court for driving with a suspended license and not wearing a seat belt. Ice=t commented on his Twitter page

The Haitian government has rejected rapper Wyclef Jean's application to run for president of the country of Haiti. Apparently Wyclef hasn't been a resident of the country in over five years, which is a requirement to run for president. Below is the twitter entry made by Wyclef last night informing his followers.

MIAMI – Hip-hop star Kanye West won't have to attend in person a mediation session aimed at resolving a lawsuit filed against him by rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight.

A Miami federal judge recently agreed to permit West to take part in the Aug. 26 session by phone. West's lawyers say he can't be there personally because of a long-standing business commitment outside the continental U.S.

Knight is seeking more than $1 million in damages from West and his companies. Knight was shot in the leg at a 2005 Miami Beach party hosted by West, whom he blames for lax security.

West, Knight and their lawyers met in New York for six hours in June but failed to settle the case.

The shooter has never been identified and the case is unsolved.

This is truly despicable, but we couldn't help ourselves. This occured the day of the verdict for the police officers accused of shooting a suspect in Oakland. The camera man makes note of the verdict, but there is so much going on here, so much going wrong here I should say.
1. Pregnant girls (allegedly all tricking) fighting in the Burger king parking lot. 2 pregnant girls jump another pregnant girl.

2.A dude jumps one of the pregnant girls who jumped his pregnant trick and punches the shit out of her, several times.

3. An old woman then almost beats the girl up inside the Burger King lobby.

4. A motorist runs into a policeman on his motorcycle.

OK we have a big dilemna. I named this so called BLOG "Word on the Street" for a reason.

We here at Ebonylifestyles.com have been blessed to have assocations with some pretty cool people and are fortunate to get insider information. The problem is we see so many websites crashing peoples lives to get a scoop for website traffic and this is something we've stayed away from because even though there are a lot of nosey people in this country looking to pick themselves up off someone else's misery, we don't want to be the crutch for these people to get their fix every morning.

But then the last 18 hours have put us in a pickle. First this JaMarcus Russell arrest. One of my longtime good friends turned me on to Russell's "fondness for syrup" in December, and I shared it with a couple of people at the time. We just felt like this wasn't worth the trouble it might cause to put it out there, because the Raiders knew about his "fondness for the syrup" and took it into consideration when he was let go earlier this off season. I mean we're not trying to Adam Schefta's job over at ESPN, but what do you with information like this when it's told to you?.

OK Now the big one comes down. ESPN has everybody and they momma scooping this NBA Free Agency thing. My hat goes off to Chris Broussard, he's probably added some pretty nice honies to his stable with all the face time he's getting on television. He's been on top of a lot of scoops, but we got him beat on this one, it's just that I don't want to believe it, maybe it sounds too good to be true!.

A couple of hours ago I got the call I knew I was going to get if "IT" was going down. Our sources connected to this ongoing saga are deep on the inside and are pretty dead on with their information (Some of you promoters know first hand I speak truth) have informed me that LeBron James will announce tomorrow night that he's leaving Cleveland to join D.Wade and Chris Bosh in South Florida!!!
Now they claim King James will be in Miami tomorrow night along with Wade and Bosh.

Normally I would be proud to say i told you first. But! Even though my sources are very close to this situation, i'm still skeptical. It just doesn't make sense! Why would you hold a one hour special in your hometown to announce that you're leaving? They better have S.W.A.T. onsite cause if what is being said to me is true, the King is gonna have to get out of town quickly, which would explain him being in Miami tomorrow night.

So i'm putting it out there, LeBron to Miami according to my sources. I personally got to see it to believe it, I don't he's leaving Cleveland. Either way we'll know tomorrow night around 10:00 pm EST.

In December one of my good friends from the L.A. days calls me up 2:30 in the morning. DF as he will be known as, was asking me about a codeine based liquid drug called "Syrup".

He didn't know much about it and was asking background information on how it affects people who are on it. So I give him some details about it and then I joke that even though there is still a large market in Houston, the hayday for this drug has passed. That's when he hits me with a bombshell.

He tells me that his friends from the neighborhood he grew up in in Oakland had told him that JaMarcus Russell had been rolling thru purchasing "Syrup" on a regular basis!

At first I didn't wan't to belifeve that Russell was that stupid, but now with his arrest today for possession of codeine in Mobile, Alabama it seems that Russell is dumber than I thought.

Awright Essence Music Festival 2010 is in the books and the weekend winner is??? NEW ORLEANS!!! That's right, damn near every room in the city sold out, Mary J, Janet, Jill & Alicia all performed this weekend and no major incidents. Also Harrah's Casino and the W Hotel bar.

Harrah's always wins when there's a big event. I mean it's open 24 hours they serve food late, late, late night and there's non-stop gambling all day all night.

The W Hotel lobby and bar are always crowded because there's no cover to get in the lobby and there's always women in that lobby. Women + Drinks = A WIN for The W.

According to numerous entertainment websites Kim Khardasian was spotted in the Big Apple last night with her new possible new boyfriend Miles Austin of the Dallas Cowboys who was celebrating his birthday by trying to guarantee a championship for Jerry Jones by becoming the new Mr. Kardashian. Just in case you forgot, the Kardashian girls went two for two when it came to world titles this past year so I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't Jerry's idea, I mean he's desperate for another ring.

According to TMZ.com the rumors of Elin Nordgren walking off with $750 million in the divorce settlement are just that, rumors. Tiger's net worth is only $600 million according to Forbes Magazine as of May 2009. So if this settlement were true, Tiger would be golfing for free for the next couple of years.
